The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1961. The department has its great contribution in enhancing the popularity of the College. This faculty have given the best results which has enriched the name of the instituteThe Department of Mathematics is the prominent Department in SRTM University, Nanded for UG, PG and Ph.D. level programs. This department runs one year career oriented program (COP) in MATLAB training. This department has active research center which is in collaboration with various National and International research centers. The faculty members of this department have been invited to represent DSCL at various international conferences in different countries like USA, Korea, Switzerland, Poland, Greece, Malaysia, Romania, Oman, Thailand, Iran, Singapore etc. The department has organized 05 regional seminar competitions for UG and PG students. Department organized 03 National Conference, 02 National workshops on syllabi, 03 regional workshops on research, 01 state level seminars, 04 Ph.D. Course works for the faculty, research students.  In 2017 Department organized the International Conference on Mathematical Analysis and Its Applications ICMAA-2017 in this Conference 450 participants, participated and 250 papers were presented. Nearly about 17 foreign researchers took participation in this conference. Department has well equipped MATLAB having 35 PC, Internet and Mathematical Soft wares which are use full for UG to Research to Ph.D. Students such as MATLAB, MATHEMATICS, SCILAB, LATEX, CIPLEX, LINGO, MAPLE etc. there are 18 Research students are doing their Ph.D. in Mathematics under the guidance of well-known Mathematician Dr. S.S. Bellale & Dr. B.D. Karande.

Our department boasts highly qualified staff who are deeply engaged in both teaching and research. Dr. R.V. Solunke and Dr. R.V. Kirtane have been recognized for their expertise, with appointments to the Board of Studies in Zoology and Fishery Science at SRTM University, Nanded. Infrastructure:

We take pride in our three well-equipped laboratories, furnished with essential equipment and glassware. Our facilities include multiple compound microscopes, pathological microscopes, binocular microscopes, dissecting microscopes, soil testing kits, colorimeters, BP measurement devices, hygrometers, thermometers, hemocytometers, camera lucidas, centrifuge machines, fish measuring boards, electronic balances, pH meters, stethoscopes, various charts, animal models, human skeleton models, animal specimens from different phyla, and permanent slides. Moreover, our department features a well-equipped museum showcasing formalin-preserved animals such as marine fishes, pythons, and various snake species. We also maintain an aquarium with different ornamental fish species.

Teaching Tools and Techniques:

To enhance the learning experience, one of our labs is equipped with an LCD projector, facilitating the use of animations, PowerPoint presentations, case study videos, and computer-aided techniques related to the syllabus. We organize field trips and study tours regularly, visiting research centers, fish culture farms, wet labs, and other relevant sites. Additionally, we host guest lectures by experts and conduct workshops on biodiversity conservation, apiculture, and aquaculture for both students and farmers, fostering practical skills and knowledge enhancement.

Notably, Dr. G.M. Tukshetty’s tenure saw him not only lead the department but also serve as the college principal for two years.

The Department of Botany has garnered acclaim for its stellar academic performance, consistently producing outstanding results in university examinations. Several students, including Miss Gaikwad Suvarna Vyankatrao (2009), Miss Palsapure Vidhi Subhash (2018), Miss Dhaware Sanchita Pradhan (2019), and Miss Ghorpade Shradha Prabhakar (2020), have been honored with Gold Medals from SRTM University, Nanded, for their exceptional achievements in botany.

Our department boasts a well-equipped infrastructure, comprising two spacious staff rooms, a dedicated store room, and three fully furnished laboratories. These laboratories are equipped with state-of-the-art apparatus and amenities, including glassware, charts, models, plant and fossil specimens, microscopes, a microtome machine, and various scientific instruments essential for botanical research.

In line with technological advancements, our department offers advanced facilities such as internet-enabled computers and an LCD projector, enriching the teaching-learning experience. Additionally, our departmental library houses a vast collection of over 170 reference books on botany and two prestigious six-monthly journals, providing valuable resources for both faculty and students. Moreover, we take pride in our botanical garden, a living testament to our commitment to botanical studies and conservation.

Our highly qualified faculty members are actively engaged in both teaching and research endeavors. Dr. C. S. Swami, a UGC-sanctioned minor research project awardee, serves as a recognized research supervisor, guiding Ph.D. scholars towards academic excellence. Furthermore, our faculty members regularly contribute to academic discourse through participation in seminars, conferences, and workshops, along with publishing research papers in esteemed journals.

To foster holistic development, the department organizes a myriad of events, including UGC-sponsored national seminars and workshops on diverse topics such as pollution control, intellectual property rights, energy management, floriculture, and mushroom production technology. We also facilitate study tours, industrial visits, guest lectures, soil and water testing camps, and entrepreneurship awareness camps, providing students with practical exposure and industry insights.

Dayanand Science College is the oldest and one of the few single faculty science colleges in the Marathwada Region. The Department of Physics was one of the first independent departments formed in DSCL. It was established in the year 1961.The department has major contribution in the development of the college. Department of Electronics and Department of Computer Science were established under the umbrella of this department in 1978 and 1999 respectively. At present both of these departments are independent The Department caters to the academic needs of many Physics aspiring young students. Currently, there are five faculty members headed by Dr. V. A. Chaudhari. He is assisted to Dr. Vishwanath D. Mote, Miss. S. D. Lokhande, Dr. M. B. Pandge, Dr. S. D. Birajdar, Miss. M. W. Aatram two more faculty Mr. L.H. Kathwate and Miss V. S. Chandak for P.G. on contract basis. The Department of Physics is supported by DST-FIST, UGC-CPE and RUSA. In the Department of Physics there are two Disciplines one at undergraduate programs leading to the degree of B. Sc. with Physics and the other at Post graduate programs leading to the degree of M. Sc. with Physics. The Department also has 8 Research Guides and 19 Research Scholars working in “Thin Film & Material Science Research Laboratory” affiliated to Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded leading to Research Degree (Ph.D.) in Physics. There are four laboratories for undergraduate students and Two for post graduate, one among which is exclusively dedicated for electronics experiments. The Department provides research facility in the field of thin films and Materials Science with amenities for synthesis and characterization of thin films & nanomaterials.

Dayanand Science College is one of the leading college in this region offering Industrial Chemistry at graduate level. The department of Industrial Chemistry is established in the year 1978.The three years curriculum of this subject is framed by Dr. Mashalkar, Scientist. Dr. K.A. Based on Industrial Production, Industrial Economics, Industrial Pollution and Management.
The theoretical part of the syllabus teaches in classroom and practical experience given from the various industries like sandwich course. So this subject become helpful for the students to start his own business, as well as to get the job easily in various industries like chemical, ceramics, fertilizer, drugs and dyes, pesticides, cement etc. The department has its large contribution in the progress of the college following were the HOD’s who contributed their valuable service to the department.

Department of Microbiology: A Beacon of Excellence

One of the oldest departments in the Marathwada region, the Department of Microbiology, commenced its academic journey in 1980 with the introduction of Microbiology as an optional subject at the graduate level. Over time, it has evolved into a prestigious institution, gaining independent status with the introduction of the postgraduate M.Sc. program in 1992. Beyond academic courses, the department is recognized as a research center in Microbiology, earning a reputation for quality education and research endeavors.

Housed within the spacious laboratory complex of Dayanand Science College, the department boasts state-of-the-art equipment and facilities essential for cutting-edge research. Its faculty has secured two minor research projects from the UGC and has published over 50 research papers in reputed journals. Recognizing its contributions, SRTMU, Nanded, has acknowledged the department’s research laboratory for Microbiology research.

The department has forged strong ties with national and multinational companies, facilitating training and placement opportunities for its students. Since the inception of the B.Sc. Microbiology course in 1980 and the M.Sc. Microbiology course in 1992-1993, along with the establishment of the Research Laboratory in 2004-2005, the department has been committed to offering consultancy and analytical services to farmers and industries in areas such as agriculture, biofertilizers, water analysis, and soil analysis.

Placement of students remains a paramount focus, with campus interviews conducted by esteemed organizations like Lupin Pharma Mumbai, Serum Institute Pune, Cipla industries, Biocon, Apex Pharma Chennai, Aadicon Biotechnologies, Mauritius, Wockhardt, Biogen pharma, Sun pharma and Zydus like top organizations in India.

Welcome to the Department of Computer Science at Dayanand Science College, where we embrace the digital era of the 21st century and strive to make computer literacy accessible to all. Established in 1999 under the leadership of Prof. S.V. Deshmukh, our department has continuously evolved to meet the demands of modern society. Throughout our journey, we’ve been fortunate to have leaders like Prof. K. N. Rathod and Dr. L. V. Thakre, who have made significant contributions to the development of our department. Currently, we are proud to be under the guidance of Dr. R. B. Shinde, who took the helm in August 2020.Our mission is clear: to empower the youth, particularly those from rural areas like Latur in the Marathwada region, with the latest knowledge and skills in computer science. To achieve this, we offer professional undergraduate (BSc in Computer Science) and postgraduate (MSc in Computer Science) courses since 2008 and 2009 respectively. At the Department of Computer Science, we believe in fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. Conceptually Biotechnology is a multidisciplinary science advancing by more applications in our day-to-day lives from pharmaceutical development to food production and the treatment of polluting waste. Biotechnology is being integrated with many disciplines of human welfare and biotechnological innovations are already became part of our daily lives and we find that in pharmacies, agriculture, food, markets, and among many other places. In addition, in recent months, biotechnology has become one of the spearheads in the fight against the COVID-19 global pandemic, since it helps to decipher the virus’ genome and understand how our body’s defense mechanism works against infectious agents. Like the stripes of the rainbow, the different biotechnology applications are grouped into seven colors or research and development areas as Red, Green, White, Yellow, Blue, Gray and Gold Biotechnology. Biotechnology will therefore play a crucial role in the society of the future in preventing and containing potential pathogens. History of the Department of Electronics

The Department of Electronics at Dayanand Science College was established in 1978 under the Department of Physics, with Prof. R.H. Ladda as its head. Pioneers like Shri. R.S. Namjoshi, Shri. S.H. Jaju, Shri. S.V. Deshmukh, and Shri. K.N. Rathod played a crucial role in developing the undergraduate laboratory and curriculum. At its inception, the college was one of only two institutions offering Electronics as an optional subject at the undergraduate level in Marathwada University, Aurangabad.

In 2000, following the retirement of Prof. R.H. Ladda, Shri. S.H. Jaju took over as the Head of the Department (HOD). Six years later, in 2006, Shri. S.V. Deshmukh became the HOD of Physics, with Shri. J.S. Dargad serving as the acting HOD of Electronics. Upon Shri. Deshmukh’s retirement in 2010, Shri. K.N. Rathod assumed the role of HOD of Physics, while Shri. J.S. Dargad was appointed the full-fledged HOD of Electronics.

From 2016 to 2023, Dr. L.V. Thakre led the Department of Electronics. Currently, Dr. T.H. Mujawar has been serving as the Head of the Department since 2023.

The Electronics Laboratory is fully equipped with the necessary tools and equipment to facilitate both analog and digital experiments at the undergraduate level, ensuring that students gain practical, hands-on experience to complement their theoretical knowledge.

The Department of Languages was established in 1961, with the establishment of the college. It is constituted of following three departments-

  1. Department of Marathi
  2. Department of Hindi
  3. Department of English

Apart from imparting the academic knowledge of Marathi, Hindi and English, the department takes keen interest to foster a love of literature and language in students. The department organizes various activities through which the students are promoted for their holistic development. It organizes the speeches of eminent writers and poets which inculcate values among the students. The faculty motivates the students to participate in various kinds of competitions at different levels and takes initiative to organize the competitions like debate, elocution, poetry recitation, extempore, essay writing, etc. on the occasion of annual gathering.The faculty works on the editorial board of the annual college magazine ‘Unmesh’ and encourages the students for creative writing.

The department has a well furnished staffroom. It is also provided with advanced facilities like computer with internet facility, one printer and ultra portable PA system.  We have departmental library which stocks relevant books on Marathi, Hindi and English literature, English Communication Skills and Soft Skills.

Established in 1961, Dayanand Science College has maintained a commitment to academic excellence, supported by the provision of independent status to its library in 1971. With a collection of 68,899 books and a total area of 8600 sq. ft., the library serves as a vital hub of knowledge and information for students and faculty alike.
Under the stewardship of Shri. Narsinh Govindrao Phatak, who served as librarian from 1965 to 2004, and currently, Shri. Kiran Rangnath Bhise, the library has evolved to offer a range of user-friendly services. These include a reading room, night library, internet facilities, and 10 computers with internet/Wi-Fi access.
In addition to its vast collection of books, the library boasts 20 journals, periodicals, 246 CD/DVDs, and access to e-books and e-journals through DELNET and nlist-inflibnet centre. www.edscl.in portal is elearning management system through teachers notes, ppt, mcq & assignment. Library provides benefits needy students under ‘Earn and Learn Scheme’ for students with suitable remuneration for Night Reading Room monitoring. It is equipped with essential security measures such as fire extinguishers and CCTV systems.
The library’s automation software, “SOUL 2.0” from INFLIBNET Centre, Ahmedabad, enables users to access its resources easily through the OPAC facility. Opening from Monday to Saturday, the library offers extended hours for the reading room and night library, ensuring accessibility for students’ diverse schedules.
With its infrastructure, resources, and commitment to facilitating learning and research, the library remains an indispensable component of the institution.
